Quixtar, the future of word of mouth and web sales?

Posted on 05. Jun, 2006 by Ty Tribble in Network Marketing - MLM, Quixtar

I have been thinking and writing a lot about word of mouth, buzz and viral marketing. In fact, I just finished my contribution to John Fogg's new project called about transforming mlm and I talk about how marketing is catching on to the concepts of Network Marketing.

Apparently, Quixtar's Jim Payne thinks the same thing...

PR Web:

(Jim) Payne also noted that the Quixtar business model is well-suited for the future of web sales. “More and more companies are looking for ways to engage in word-of-mouth, or viral, marketing,” says Payne. “The Quixtar business model has always been about word of mouth.

In my essay, I talk about what I consider to be the essence of authentic Network Marketing: networking with great people and remarkable products.

However, even good things can be warped be greed:

  • Companies that take advantage of loyal associates by over-charging for products.
  • High level associates that make a high percentage of their income from training.

As traditional marketing edges closer to Network Marketing, our challenge will be to edge closer to authentic Network Marketing.

Word of Mouth marketing company BZZAgent has a wonderful code of conduct that covers a number of issues. I picked out two that Mr. Payne may want to consider.

Open
When telling others about your product or business be open about the company you represent.

Honest
Do not be afraid to discuss the bad with the good.
