Amway Loves China

I thought it was odd that Alticor, the parent company of Amway and Quixtar, bought the naming rights to the Arena in Orlando and promptly named it Amway Arena (home of the NBA - Orlando Magic).
Amway no longer exists in the U.S., replaced by Quixtar and it's stealthy manufacturing arm called Access Business Group, so buying the naming rights to a U.S. Arena and then naming it after a company that does not exist in the U.S. is in the very least strange.
My first thought was that some form of Amway is on it's way back to the U.S. and I stand by that. It's pure speculation, but I think Amway products will come back to the U.S. in the future.
Next, I did a little reaserch and found that 500 million people in China are considered to be fans of the NBA. This makes a little more sense now.
- The Orlando Magic are owned by the DeVos family, who also are owners of Amway.
- Amway recently had their direct sales application to China approved.
- China is possibly a $50 Billion market for direct sales.
As a matter of fact, the Amway Arena announcement came within a week of Amway China's application approval. I suspect that Quixtar feels a bit like the red headed step child of the Alticor family right about now.
