Dave of On the Road With Dave writes the following about the release of Quixtar sales figures:

The Real Quixtar Blog, a blog published by Quixtar PR guy, Robin Luymes states that the 2006 sales figures will be announced maybe as soon as this week.

"While Alticor made its announcement, Quixtar's final sales disclosure is not yet ready. I think we have the sales figures nailed down, but the IBO compensation piece is going through its final audits. Alticor does not announce that in their release. I'm pushing for these numbers so we can announce Quixtar sales asap. All I know is it's over a billion in sales for the fourth consecutive year (because that's what Alticor's release said!). Maybe we will announce this week still. Stay tuned!!"

Alticor Sales Down – No Report for Quixtar Sales

ADA, Mich., Jan. 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Alticor Inc. and its family of companies reported sales of $6.3 billion for the 2006 performance year, which ended December 31.

Sales declined slightly from $6.4 billion in 2005. Company officials attributed the dip to a period of regulatory uncertainty that chilled sales in China, the company's largest direct selling market. However, Amway (China) Co. Ltd. received its direct selling license December 1, 2006, leaving company officials optimistic that China sales will return to growth this year.

After six straight years of growth, we expected we might be down this year because of the China situation, and we planned for that. We are still very pleased with these results, because there was very strong growth in several of our mature markets as well as in our newest ones."

Said President Doug DeVos: "No one works harder than the people who sell our products around the world. We thank all of them for their efforts, which helped us beat targets in a challenging year."

He added: "Going forward, we have placed new emphasis on innovation throughout the company. We expect that will result in better products, new approaches, and increased appeal to consumers in our markets around the world."

A friend of mine called me about the post I made earlier today regarding the Amway Arena. I about choked on my breakfast. Check out the highlighted portion from the quote below:

"Public funds will pay 90 percent of the cost of a new arena, but the public won't get near that share of the profits," said Diamond, who so far is one of the few city leaders to criticize the pending deal. "I think there ought to be a more equitable split."

How funny is that?

The public (IBO) won't get near that share (tools) of the profits, said, Diamond.

Order on the web, personal delivery and follow up by the Avon representative, interesting concept...

Marketing Sherpa:

What if you wanted to transfer the one-to-one relationship your reps have with their customers onto your Web site? Now, what if you needed to do that for a lot of reps, like up to 600,000? That's the boat Pattiann McAdams, Avon's Executive Director of Ecommerce, North America, was in. In our exclusive interview, see how McAdams added that and managed to build in invoicing, returns and other back-end support. Not to mention her simple-but-striking service innovation – allowing Web-based customers the chance to receive hand-delivered orders from their personal reps. The entire initiative has been so successful after just a few months, she’s already exploring ways to expand it to other countries.

Second Effort in Network Marketing

“The Wright Brothers didn’t get that plane up in the air on the first try. In fact, it took a couple of thousand tries, with jeering crowds of people along the way. Edison worked for years on physically connecting us to elictricity and he couldn’t even see what he was working with. Former football coaching great Vince Lombardi described this phenomenon of winners beautifully: he called it “The Second Effort Concept.” The winners tried again when others shrugged and decided that walking everywhere instead of flying - or living by candlelight through eternity - would be just fine.”

“The people who succeed at attracting an ongoing supply of prospects are positive minded, always on the lookout for opportunity to maintain their “razor’s edge” and always committed to the end result they envision”

Critics Slam Orlando Amway Arena Deal

Posted on 30. Jan, 2007 by Ty Tribble.

The Orlando Magic are putting more money on the table for a new arena than most any professional franchise of the same size, but once the team moves in, it stands to make millions.

Critics charge that local taxpayers will get shortchanged in the pending $480 million deal. That's because the team stands to gain huge profits -- perhaps tens of millions more than it earns now -- from selling luxury suites, premium seats, advertising and more.

Given that the city, and not the team, will pay to operate the new facility, Orlando taxpayers should get a better cut of the money that's made from it, said Orlando Commissioner Phil Diamond.

"Public funds will pay 90 percent of the cost of a new arena, but the public won't get near that share of the profits," said Diamond, who so far is one of the few city leaders to criticize the pending deal. "I think there ought to be a more equitable split."

Without a final design, it's impossible to say how much cash Orlando's new arena could churn out, but arenas in comparable markets have the ability to generate $17 million to $30 million a year from premium seating alone, industry experts say.

Be Strong – Follow Up

A couple of close friends contacted me about my Be Strong Sunday Scripture posting.

They wanted to know if I was O.K.

When your friends assume that something is wrong because you post a verse from the Bible, that's bad and funny. These friends know that I am a Christian so you wouldn't think that a Bible verse would be that far fetched.

I called one of them back and said, "Can't a brother blog some scripture on a Sunday?"

And, we laughed.

Anyways, the verse was printed on the back page of Joe Magee's memorial service hand out. It was one of his favorites. I thought it was a good verse and wanted to share it with you.
