Crisetteellis She's first lady of the 6,000-member Greater Grace Temple in northwest Detroit, and tools around town in her 2008 pink Cadillac Escalade.

Such is the enviable lifestyle of Crisette Ellis, 44, of Bloomfield Hills -- married 19 years to the church's Bishop Charles H. Ellis III and a leader in her own right with Mary Kay Inc. One of the Texas-based cosmetics organization's 500 national sales directors, she's achieved more than $1 million in career sales commissions.

QUESTION: Would you please tell us about your early years?

ANSWER: I'm a Detroiter who was in the first graduating class at Renaissance High School. My BS degree from Michigan State University is in public affairs management. I thought I would be Miss Corporate America.

Q: What attracted you to Mary Kay?

A: I took maternity leave in 1994 while I was a program control analyst at Ford Motor Co. I was six months pregnant and had a 2-year-old daughter, Kiera, and 20-month-old son, Charles IV. My priorities began to shift. I didn't have enough time with my children, but really wanted an opportunity to use my degree to make my own money. Mary Kay came along at the right time. I could work Mary Kay around my life.
