By Dan Mitchell, MLM Blog Correspondent Golden West, a senior living community in Boulder for more than 40 years, recently celebrated spring by hosting a Wellness Fair. The fair invited residents, families, staff and the general community to get valuable information on health and wellness, receive important preventive health screenings and get pampered through free massages, manicures and makeup consultations. The fair was put on in conjunction with Arbonne International, Kaiser Permanente, and Medically Based Fitness. The City of Boulder Senior Services, RSVP and Special Transit provided information on their services to area seniors. Walgreens pharmacy offered consultations with a pharmacist and conducted bone density screenings; Dr. Michael Travis provided dental screenings and denture adjustments; Major Medical Supply provided wheelchair and walker adjustments as well as checked attendees' pulse rates and oxygen saturation levels. Dieticians from Morrison Senior Dining answered questions on nutrition, and Kaiser Permanente's optical department cleaned eyeglasses. In addition, Dr. Aaron Snyder, of Kaiser Permanente, gave a presentation entitled "Five Tips for Healthy Aging." An independent nurse checked blood pressures, and Medically Based Fitness conducted balance screenings.
