The press in Michigan is so nice to Amway and I understand why. It's no secret that Amway does a lot for the Grand Rapids, MI area. I found this article to be a little soft, none the less. If you are scoring at home "consolidating" usually means "lay-offs".
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - For several weeks, Amway has been discussing with employees some potential strategic changes that may impact its finance operations in West Michigan. In addition, some jobs could move overseas.
A company spokesperson sent 24 Hour News 8 the following statement:
"For several weeks, we have been discussing with employees some potential strategic changes that may impact our European and finance operations. We have told employees that these decisions will likely have a job impact in several markets, and will likely lead to consolidating some functions in regional service centers in locations such as Costa Rica and Central Europe."
Update: While WoodTV posted this fluff story, mLive actually got a hold of a confidential memo spilling the beans on "hundreds of jobs" that may move to Costa Rica from Michigan. Here is the story.
