How To Be A Trust Agent

How To Be A Trust Agent

There's a great review at Entrepreneur.com of the new book Trust Agents: Using the Web to Build Influence, Improve Reputation, and Earn Trust by Chris Brogan and Julien Smith.

What's a Trust Agent? Here's a definition from the book:

Trust agents build networks almost reflexively by being helpful, by promoting the good work that others do, by sharing even their best stuff without hesitation, and by finding ways to deliver even more value on top of all that without asking for anything in return. Instead of sucking up to the big guys . . . trust agents reach out to the up-and-comers.

Does this sound familiar? In my experience the most successful Network Marketers are first and foremost Trust Agents.

Here's The 6 Characteristics of Trust Agents:

1. Make your own game (i.e., stand out by being different).
2. One of us (you are not above your market; you are part of your market).
3. The Archimedes effect (it’s all about the leverage).
4. Agent Zero (start your networks before you do actual business).
5. Human artist (learning the soft skills).
6. Build an army (you can’t do it alone).

This Ebook won't resolve the election issues in Iran. That would be too much to ask of a digital product. It was intended for community bankers but there's alot of interesting information for anyone who's looking to harness the power of Social Media to promote a direct sales or multi-level marketing business. Check it out! Docstoc is cool.

Stack of MLM Books This from Earth Times:

REDONDO BEACH, Calif. - (Business Wire) The Center for Financial Executive Education (“CFEE”) and banker Jesse Torres (@jstorres) today announced that his recently released ebook, "Community Banker’s Guide to Social Network Marketing,” has assumed the top spot as the most viewed “social media” document on Docstoc.com. Docstoc is the premier online community and document repository to find and share professional documents.

The 70-page Community Banker’s Guide to Social Network Marketing is a primer for bankers and other professionals seeking to learn about social media social networks. In the Community Banker’s Guide to Social Network Marketing, Mr. Torres addresses social networks, user demographics and the role of social networks within the greater sphere of social media. Also addressed at length is the development of viral marketing programs, consumer advocacy, conversational marketing, metrics and common pitfalls. A free copy of the Guide is available at www.tinyurl.com/cbgsnm.

“This ebook is intended to provide a roadmap to establishing a loyal and trustworthy reputation within the Web 2.0 world. As the influence of traditional marketing continues to fade and as peer-to-peer networks increasingly determine buying preferences, community bankers must understand the importance of incorporating social networks into the overall marketing plan of their organizations in order maximize their inherent advantage over larger regional and national competitors,” said Mr. Torres. “Social network marketing is about creating and nurturing conversations with consumers in order to determine how to best serve their needs while developing trust and respect. Community bankers’ competitive advantage is based upon their ability to understand and meet the needs of their local communities. As such, community bankers are better positioned to take advantage of social networks than their larger peers.”

Terry Gogna Book Cover Here's an excerpt from How Can I Get Myself To Do What I Need To Do?

How often have you heard the phrases: “I don’t have time” or “I have to make time?”… I know what you’re thinking, “I just said that today.” We’ve all heard these words so often that we never take the time to listen to what we’re actually saying.

We hear and use these words so frequently that we never question their accuracy. Instead we convince ourselves, without a doubt, of their truth. I want to make a point here and now:

You cannot “make” or “manage” TIME. You can only create and manage personal events.

Webster’s dictionary says, “To manage something is to ‘handle,’ ‘direct’ or ‘alter’ something for a purpose.” You cannot manage time because you cannot handle, direct or alter time for any purpose. You cannot speed up time and you cannot slow time down.

You can only control and manage the events that you personally carry out in the time that already exists.

So, the next time you hear the words, “Time Management,” remember, there is no such thing as “Time Management.”

“Event Management” is the only way to successfully pretend that you are actually managing time.

By the way, organizing your daily events in segments of 15 minutes or less throughout the whole day will give you the perception that you are actually capturing and slowing time down.

Network Marketing Tribes And MLM Leaders

Posted on 13. May, 2009 by Dan Mitchell.

Tribes cover Seth Godin's latest book - published late last year - is called Tribes. Get a free Tribes e-book over at Seth's Blog

Chapter titles include "The Power of Crazy", Squandering your Tribe", "Now I'm A Believer" and "Can a Fake Passion Build A Tribe".

Mr. Godin contends that technology has changed the make-up and creation of tribes allowing them to communicate and grow in new ways. And there is no tribe without a leader.

Are you ready to lead a tribe? Here are some tribe building tactics:

1. Celebrate Accomplishment

2. Be The Example

3. Lead With Passion

4. Listen Carefully

5. Be Authentic

Check out this Seth Godin video where he gets into how to build and lead your tribe.

In the MLM or Networking Marketing world leading your tribe (downline) is the key to success.

Here's an excerpt from a review in USA Today:

This time out he tackles the oft-dissected concept of leadership. But he does so with a twist. He delves into the surfacing of a new kind of leader - one who has emerged since the Internet has enabled and mobilized countless global tribes around passions ranging from global warming to politics to great restaurants.

Godin defines a tribe as a group of people connected to one another, connected to a leader, and connected to an idea that inspires their passion. He argues that human beings have a need to belong, "to be part of a tribe, to contribute to (and take from) a group of like-minded people. We are drawn to leaders and to their ideas, and we can't resist the rush of belonging and the thrill of the new," he writes.

P.S. In the free e-book there's even a chapter about Joy Schultz, a Mary Kay representative.

Build Your Own Library Of MLM Books

Posted on 13. May, 2009 by Dan Mitchell.

Books I came across this cool site today while strolling around the internet over my morning coffee. if you're like many Network Marketers you've got a home office stuffed with books so this site will come in handy.

LibraryThing is the world's largest book club...and it allows you to catalog your books. Or let people know what you're reading...

It's a great place to meet people with similar tastes - connecting you with people who read what you do.

Read about LibraryThing in the .New York TImes.

Here's an excerpt:

Creating a catalog on the Web site is easy. Enter the title of one of your books, and the search engine supplies the rest of the details, like the International Standard Book Number, or ISBN, and a thumbnail image of the cover. Click again, and list the next item.

You can view or print your catalog instantly, sorted by author, for example, or by more personal tags like “books that mention Venice,” “books that touch on digital photography” or “books I’ve loaned out.” Collections can also be displayed by book covers.

Ms. Havemann, for instance, has catalogued all of the 2,956 volumes at her home, and no longer has to rely on hand-written notes or a spreadsheet. Now, as she collects new books — an unending and delightful process — she uses a portable bar-code scanner to accumulate their ISBNs, then downloads up to 500 entries at a time onto LibraryThing.

But the swift, accurate cataloguing of her books is not what she prizes most about LibraryThing.

“I love the social aspect,” she said.
