Tealeaf has released the results of their 5th annual survey of online consumer behavior conducted by Harris Interactive.

The results are telling:

48% of U.S. online adults say that they are now conducting more online transactions than they did in the past given the current economic climate.

12% of online adults who encountered issues said they shared those experiences via blogs or social networks, twice as many as in 2008.

Further, the survey reveals that these shared experiences are highly influential and should therefore be a real business concern. More than half (54%) of all online adults said social media content has influenced their online transactions, with 82% of those reporting that social media has influenced their choice of vendor.

That's right...more than half of all online transactions are influenced by social media content.

Blogging, Network Marketing and the FTC

Blogging, Network Marketing and the FTC

I noticed a good article today on Law.com from the New York Law Journal about the Federal Trade Commission and their view of endorsements and testimonials on blogs. If you're a network marketer with a blog this will interest you...

Here's an excerpt:

However, now assume the consumer joins a network marketing program under which she periodically receives various products about which she can write reviews if she wants to. If she receives a free bag of the dog food through this program, her positive review would be considered an endorsement. That is because, in this fact pattern, there is an ongoing relationship between the consumer and a network marketing program, and economic gain by the consumer based on the stream of products, which makes the blog posting an endorsement within the meaning of the guidance.

Social Media Marketing and MLM

Social Media Marketing and MLM

Spammy hype artists and teeth whitening aside, I am really excited about the current trends in Social Media Marketing.  Your ability to quickly create an audience for a product, service or brand has never been easier.

Here are two things to think about as you consider adopting Social Media into your marketing.  I am also including some snips from non-MLM subject experts so that you can see how the "outside world" is lining up with MLM:

Be unique and interesting.

Here is a snip from from Seth Godin:

The idea is pretty simple--find a small group that cares, give them something remarkable and make it easy to tell their friends (the folks who don't care as much).

It's all about the relationship.

Check out this snip from Social Media Guru, Chris Bogan's blog (he's talking about a brand of soap):

Relationships Help Sell

It doesn’t hurt that the product is really good, but what made them come to mind was all the times we’ve chatted on Twitter, and/or seeing their social media conversations unfurl on Facebook and other platforms. They’re friendly. They’re part of the story. They’re here.

It’s not enough, obviously. Being around and chatting with me on Twitter doesn’t help if your product stinks. But here’s where it helped: when I realized that I was almost out of soap, they were top of mind.

Internet Marketing Guru, Mike Filsaime Is Giving Away A $5,000 Program Free Today

Internet Marketing Guru, Mike Filsaime Is Giving Away A $5,000 Program Free Today

Posted on 16. Dec, 2009 by Ty Tribble.

I got my copy and I hope that you have time to get yours.  Mike Filsaime is a legend in Internet Marketing and he is literally giving away one of his best selling programs for free today.

You see, Mike is leaving the Internet Marketing Guru industry to focus on his true passions and he is giving away an early Christmas present to those who want to learn about his 7 Figure Secrets...the program (an actual physical product) ...

Go get it here before they are gone: Mike Filsaime's 7 Figure Secrets - Free (just pay shipping - less than $16 bucks in U.S. and Canada)

Back in February of 2007, Mike Filsaime held a secret Private Workshop at an undisclosed location.

Over 100 people paid $5000 for the Workshop.

He then took those DVD's (Which now sell for $1297) and sold it out in record fashion in under 7 days to 2500 people. Since then... over 3000 people have paid for that information.

The success stories that followed have changed the face of Internet Marketing.

(Filsaime, along with his 37 Staff Members, will do $10,000,000 this year in sales and is credited with showing other marketers how to grow a 7 figure Business.)

BIG DEAL!

Big Deal?

Recently, Mike hired a "TOP GUN" Internet Marketing Expert and Copywriter (That also attended the event.)

Mike Paid this "TOP GUN" $25,000 to watch all 16 DVD's of "The 7 Figure Code" and condense it into a Masterpiece...

THE RESULT...

An 85 Page report, no fluff, with all of the Gold nuggets, Pearls of Wisdom, and action plans for you to get in a 1 hours' read.

That's right, what 100 people paid $5000 for, and had to sit through 3 days, you will get all of the information crammed into 1 report that you can read in 1 sitting.

Here is the catch: There are only 10,000 units available and last I heard several thousand were already gone.  Go grab your early Christmas present for yourself here.

Mommies vs. the FTC

Mommies vs. the FTC

Posted on 11. Dec, 2009 by Dan Mitchell.

Here's an interesting article about the FTC and pay-to-praise blogging:

Even for someone who gets blessed with free washers and dryers, semiannual boondoggle trips to Los Angeles, New York and Florida, and all the organic yogurt drinks she can consume, $11,000 is a lot of money. For mommy bloggers, Tweeters and Facebookers who post opinions about consumer products, $11,000 is the size of the fine they allegedly might incur for failing to follow the government's disclosure rules on advertising and endorsing.

According to recently revised Federal Trade Commission guidelines, bloggers and other word-of-mouth advertisers are now subject to FTC rules for advertisers and "endorsers" -- anyone who recommends a commercial product or service. Repeated violations of those rules could result in court-ordered monetary penalties. These new additions to the FTC Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising went into effect Dec. 1, and for many participants in the sometimes-lucrative world of social-media-for-pay, the fear is in the air.
