Utah Business magazine unveiled the winners of the second annual Fast 50 awards program, naming MonaVie (www.monavie.com), maker of premier acai-based nutritional and energy drink products, as the No. 1 fastest growing company in Utah.

Is your Tahitian Noni from Tahiti?

Producers of Tahitian noni fruit have raised concerns about a fall in demand for their produce. Although Tahiti has a reputation as producing the Pacific region's best, most nutritious noni fruit - high labour and production costs mean it's also far more expensive than that of its neighbours. Now the producers are claiming that noni from other countries such Fiji, Vanuatu and the Cook Islands is being used in juice carrying the Tahitian label.

Noni juice is said to benefit everything from your digestion system, immune system and even skin and hair. And while those claims are often disputed, no one can argue with the fact that in the last decade noni-juice has become a multi-million dollar industry. Worldwide sales of noni juice reportedly add up to several billion US dollars a year.

At the forefront of this success is the French Polynesian island of Tahiti, the first of the Pacific Islands to tap into the international market. However, with demand for local noni fruit falling, producers suspect that many companies maybe be using cheaper fruit imported from other Pacific Islands.

The CEO of the noni producer and exporter, Royal Tahiti Noni, Vatea Quesnot, says he saw this happen several years ago with juice sold in the United States and thinks it may now be happening on the Asian market.

Tupperware Banned on Missouri Rivers

Tupperware Globe Just when I was about to take a vacation boating down a Missouri river with my Tupperware collection!

From OzarkFirst:

(Jefferson City, MO) -- You may want to rethink taking Tupperware along with you on Missouri's rivers.  That's at least for the time being.
   
The Associated Press says state lawmakers have banned it, but not on purpose.  They apparently meant to vote on outlawing Styrofoam, but confused their plastics.
   
The problem came up because Styrofoam is a brand name, so lawmakers tried to name the plastic used to make foam coolers.  Now having Tupperware on a river can land you in jail for a year.
   
No word about a repeal of that law.

Tupperware - The Musical is being performed by the New Colony troupe at La Costa Theatre on Chicago's Northwest Side until August 9.

Chicago Public Radio reports: A new musical created here in Chicago tackles some big issues through a surprising medium. The New Colony theater examines the role of women in the age of McCarthyism and the Korean War. It tells the story of a woman whose life is changed by a famous piece of plastic.

XanGo to double Malaysia sales growth

It's Mangosteen harvest time where I live in Chiangmai, Thailand. Mangosteen is about 40 cents US a kilo. Not sure why you'd buy Xango - but that's just me.  I'd have to say, however, that Corey Citron is one of the most dynamic networkers around.

Here's the latest Xango news from btimes:

Xango_logo XANGO, which offers mangosteen juice products with nutritional benefits, aims to double its sales growth in Malaysia over the next two years.

Its general manager of Southeast Asia, Tai Tolman, said despite the current global economic crisis, there are still opportunities for growth and the company will leverage on its network of distributors.

"Through efforts by our distributors to educate the public on the powerful antioxidant properties present in XanGo products, we intend to expand our presence nationwide from our strong base in the Klang Valley," Tai said.

"Currently, XanGo has 30,000 distributors in Malaysia and we intend to double that number to support the growing demand for our products," he said in a recent interview.

At the global level, XanGo has one million distributors in various markets, including Canada, Mexico, Japan and Germany.

According to Tai, the Malaysian market has enjoyed a 328 per cent revenue growth rate since May 2007.

He said XanGo has achieved remarkable success for its flagship juice product in Malaysia, which is being retailed at RM160 per bottle.

"The Malaysian market is significant for XanGo, being one of the largest markets for us in Asia and the regional office hub for Southeast Asia," he added.
