WLNS:

The Michigan native who founded private security contractor Blackwater has been invited to testify before Congress.

Representative Henry Waxman is chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. He’s invited Blackwater CEO Erik Prince to appear at an October committee hearing.

The company has come under intense scrutiny in the week since 11 Iraqis were killed in a shooting involving Blackwater contractors protecting a U.S. diplomatic convoy in Baghdad.

Prince is a Holland native and former Navy SEAL whose family fortune was made in the auto parts industry. His sister, Betsy DeVos formerly chaired the Michigan Republican Party. She’s married to Dick DeVos, the Amway heir who unsuccessfully ran for governor in 2006.
