CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — A law that would more strictly regulate direct selling and network marketing is needed to protect both consumers and legitimate businesses, an official of the Direct Selling Association of the Philippines (DSAP) said.

"There are already too many dubious pyramid schemes and the victims are not protected from these systems and they end up broke and disheartened," said Dominador B. Bonquin, DSAP chairman and head of the group’s education committee, during his visit to this city last week.

The group launched its first provincial run on the promotion of certificate course in direct selling and network marketing.

"The National Government must protect the consumers and lawmakers must also formulate general guidelines on direct selling," said Mr. Bonquin.
