Like any business, the Network Marketing industry has it's seasons. I put these seasons in three categories: Primary Building, Secondary Building and Casual Building.

There are actually two times of year that I call Primary Building and we just entered one of them!

Primary Building months are January, February, March, April, May, September, October and November. These are the times to absolutely focus and put the peddle to the metal. You will rarely find me taking any time off in these months, although technology certainly allows me to work from all kinds of crazy locations.

Secondary building months are June, July and August. While I call these months Secondary Building months, I have actually had some of my best months ever in these months because many people seem to take the summer off, leaving less competition.

The Casual Building month in the U.S. is Decemeber.  Network Marketing is a business of connecting and I use December as a month to reach out to people that I don't always connect with. I still build and sponsor people in Decemeber but I simply build a little more casually. December is probably a pretty good month to take a vacation.

I just wanted to take a moment to thank the readers of the MLM Blog.  This site is about to hit 1 Million page views which is a big milestone for a little blog writing about Network Marketing.

When I started this blog, I thought, "Wouldn't it be neat to write about the industry and see if I could get a few people reading what I write?"

Social Networking and P2P sites enable consumers to have their stake in the music business.

I saw this question posed at the MLM.com forums today and wanted to offer the MLM Blog readers my 2 cents.

Do You Need a Web Site to Build Network Marketing?

My answer is only if you want to be seen as a professional.

Think about it. You want to talk to someone about a billion dollar industry and the opportunity to make a big financial impact on their lives and they ask you what your web address is and you don't have one?

For crying out loud, get real. Even if you build your business 100% off line and face to face, people will still Google your company and maybe even your name. You want to be looked at as an expert in your industry? Well, you better consider what people find on Google when they search for your name.

If you are out talking with potential business partners, sharing your products and promoting your business, you can pretty much count on the fact that people will be checking you out.

Let's go back to the term "home based" for a moment. There are some positives and some negatives here.

First of all, most people trying to start a home based business already have a job and other responsibilities that they must tend to daily. This means that the time available to grow their business is going to be limited. Therefore, even with the best product, best promotions, and most skillful management, growth is going to be slow. This is discouraging to many people, and, in fact, is a major reason many people drop out of home business ownership.

If time is at a premium, so is money in most cases. If you buy into a home based business and can afford to buy billboards along major traffic routes across the country, full page ads in major magazines, or the services of a full-scale promotional agency, you have a great chance of doing well. If, however, you can only afford a few business cards and a couple of ads in the local newspaper, things are going to be slow.

Then, there is the learning curve, particularly in a network marketing business. Most people know little about sales and are very hesitant to try to "sell" things. They often lack the confidence to even let people know that they are involved with a network marketing business.
