Sting? He played at my last birthday party. For free. Could Amway find an artist with less buzz?
Anyway, this just in from mlive.com:
GRAND RAPIDS — More than 1,000 high-ranking distributors, as well as
the company's top executives from around the world, will descend on
West Michigan this week as Amway marks its 50th anniversary.
They can expect rousing speeches, big-name entertainers — Sting
performs a private show next Sunday — and plenty of smiles among the
elite entrepreneurs who took the dream of two guys from Grand Rapids
and made it their own. (See highlights since the founding in 1959 in our Amway timeline.)
While the faces, languages and hometowns will be global, Amway is
much the same now as when it marked its 25th anniversary — only bigger.
A lot bigger.
In 1984, the Ada-based company chalked up sales of about $1.2 billion, mostly in the United States.
In 2008, the family-owned business had $8.2 billion in sales around
the world, making it one of the nation's 50 largest private companies,
according to Forbes magazine.
It's hard to overestimate the effect of having a company with
Amway's global reach and deep community roots planted in West Michigan,
said Birgit Klohs, president of The Right Place Inc., an economic
development agency started by Amway co-founder Jay Van Andel.
"I'm glad they are in my town, in our town, in our region, believe
me," Klohs said. "They really are the quintessential entrepreneurial
success story that, hopefully, we can replicate with other companies."
Sorry, Sting. You're not as boring as Amway.
If I were in Amway,I would much rather see that money come back to me as a Distributor rather than have it pay for entertainment.
You get both. The company pays for the entertainment and you get compensated based on your efforts. I know because I am a distributor. Nobody is in Amway. We’re not employees of Amway. We are authorized as business owners to distribute their products along with the partner stores who all came to Amway to link their sites. Distributors work incredibly hard in the beginning to achieve success. It’s not easy sometimes but I just don’t want to have a job one day. I want to run a business full-time. I wouldn’t mind seeing Sting at all. Check credible sources when it comes to Amway Global. These blogs are just opinions and everyone’s entitled to them.
