The woman credited with fine-tuning Amway's global image is garnering the spotlight herself.
Candace Matthews is Black Enterprise's Corporate Executive of the Year.
Amway Corp.'s global marketing chief officer is featured on the September cover of the business magazine — which hits newsstands today — holding a globe.
Matthews, 50, is the first private company executive to receive the honor.
In her two years with the family-owned, multilevel marketing giant, she is credited with updating the Ada Township-based company's brand, sales force and global message.
"Through her business prowess and inventiveness, she is helping turn Amway into an even more dynamic global powerhouse," wrote the magazine in explaining why Matthews was selected for the award.
