Arbonne International announced today that it has made a charitable donation of approximately 1.5 million personal care products-with a retail value of nearly $4.75 million dollars-to Operation Gratitude, a non-profit organization that sends care packages to the U.S. military. This donation is the largest Operation Gratitude has received from a corporate sponsor to date and follows a $642,000 donation Arbonne made to the organization in May. Arbonne, headquartered in Irvine, California, formulates botanically based, scientifically advanced beauty, health and wellness products, distributed through an international network of Independent Consultants.
"We`re honored to donate Arbonne skin care products to Operation Gratitude to improve the lives of the brave men and women who are serving in the military overseas," said Rita Davenport, Arbonne President. "They fight to preserve our freedom and way of life and we owe them a debt of gratitude. We hope these products show our appreciation for their service to this country, and far beyond our borders. We know these products will help protect them from the harsh
elements. Arbonne thanks you and salutes you!"

Salute to Airborne’s corporate citizenship. Hope that more company can follow suite.
Arbonne International is an amazing, generous company, and I am proud to represent this company! Thank you to all the US Troops who fight for our freedom! Enjoy your Arbonne products. The extremely harsh climate does a number on your skin, and you will love the results from these products!!
Wow, Kudos to Arbonne. Despite what BeautySociety reps are saying on Facebook sites it looks like Arbonne is doing great things.
I suppose it’s better for Arbonne to donate the huge amount of old product that they cant sell. Lets not kid ourselves here, if Arbonne could possibly sell it, they would. Heaven knows with the upcoming Chapter 11 they need the money. I hope the Troops will be able to use and enjoy the donation.
Wow, so many cynics here… Can’t a company make a nice donation and move on? Of course they will get a tax benefit, but that doesn’t take away the good that comes from a donation like this! Tax benefits/breaks on donations are given to help encourage more giving and larger giving. Great! Now someone can make a big difference (or even a small difference) by making a charitable contribution and hey, for the good deed they will get a write off. Why do people always have to make everything about greed and money… Even if Arbonne made this large donation strictly “as a business move so that they can get a write off,” So what? Does that make the products any less needed and/or appreciated? I’m glad that they chose an organization that is so close to my heart, not mad that they “selfishly donated” to it. Get a grip people, not everyone is trying to pull one over on us!
And as far as only donating “old product,” if products are expired, they won’t be sent. It is illegal to sell (or donate) expired pharmaceuticals, which is what many skin care products, including sunscreen, are regulated as. Most skin care products have a shelf life of 2 years, which is not a very long time (just take a look in your bathroom-I bet you’d be surprised to see how old some of the stuff that you have in there is-and that you may use it from time to time). A company is not going to make a very sizable donation such as Arbonne’s and then risk the repercussions of sending old product. You can’t fault someone for making a donation just to look good and then on the same note assume they would risk poor publicity by donating expired product. That is just dumb. You don’t need to be an eternal optimist, but your pessimism makes you sound ignorant.
This is a business move, so that they can get a tax write off on it. More spin…
I still can’t believe that other blogs were taken down. Look at this comment above in NOV 09 where someone makes a comment about chapter 11 and well it happened. Then the comment came out about Rita leaving and now they shut this down. Ty thanks for all you did about speaking the truth. It is such a shame in the MLM world that Arbonne cowardly closed down these blogs. They are being Bullies right now. Why is Arbonne doing this? It is obviously that things must really be bad on the inside if they have to be worried about peoples comments.
What worries me is how quiet Ty has become. I wonder if we need to scoop up some bail money. 😉 Did he get locked in the pokey?
OR….worse…..
Maybe he got kidnapped by a few ARbots for all of the Arbonne bashing, and they took him to Headquarters and are torturing him.
OR……better……
He’s cruisin’ the coast in his Porsche with some hot Babe who really digs the 6-pack he’s developed, thanks to those healthy and nutritious EIRO products he’s been taking!
OR………
????????? Anyone else wanna guess where Ty is?
While I can’t speak for Ty, in general what happens in these situations is a Cease & Desist order is sent. It would be easy for Arbonne to get them as part of their Chapter 11 case. In the court’s eyes, Arbonne is doing what they can to retain their business and continue operating as an ongoing concern and if they could make a case that free-speech outlets are harming THEIR BANKRUPTCY/REORGANIZATION EFFORTS, then a judge would issue C&D Orders. In the normal course of business, no. In the midst of a Chapter 11, maybe, because court often believes that every possible chance must be given to a business to successfully emerge from a Chapter 11. Make sense?
I have received C&D orders in the past. They are scary. It is easier to take down the content they object to than retain a lawyer to defend, etc. ACLU anyone?
My entire comment here is all speculation, but I would be surprised if I’m wrong. The telltale hint is that all Arbonne discussion was taken down from many multiples of places at once, and that coincided with them filing their reorganization plan for approval.
It’s pretty transparent to me.
There was no cease and desist sent to me and I haven’t been locked up. = ) I love giving people an outlet to express their opinions, but the whole thing was getting a little out of hand. I found people posing as others to try to get a point across and I don’t have the time or energy to police it. I haven’t gone away and I am mulling over a couple of ideas that would allow for a better discussion. Stay tuned.
On a serious note, my nephew, who is a USAF fueler pilot just deployed to Qatar this past Friday. I’m willing to bet his skin gets dry and flaky out there. Maybe the ARbonne people will read this and send him a care package.
………savvygal2 whistles as she types this………;)
Thanks Ty. I will stay tuned!
