MLM Blog was first to report on August 24th that Efusjon was going to either go out of business (that remains to be seen and in my opinion very possible) or cut ties to it’s MLM compensation plan.
As of today, Efusjon is done with MLM.

Most interesting to me is the statement about how the business has been declining for over a year now, all the while CEO Robert Towles has been saying how wonderful the growth has been. Sad.
Here is the letter that Efusjon sent out to it’s reps:
Dear eFusjon Distributors:
It is with great sadness that we announce today that we must cease the direct sales multi-level marketing business of eFusjon, Inc. as of September 1, 2010.
The independent contractor distributor agreements will terminate as of this date. See Distributor Agreement, Section 7 (“The Agreement shall continue in effect between the parties hereto until either party terminates the Agreement…”). Qualified distributors will receive their last compensation check for the month of August, less offsets against any amounts that are owed to the Company, on September 10th. Any commissions due will be available in your “Hyperwallet” account until October 31, 2010, after which date you will need to contact the corporate office (to access your “Hyperwallet” account please go to www.efusjonpay.com, or contact customer service for assistance). The Company will send refunds of the $30 membership fee to those distributors who became members in August 2010.
This was a very difficult decision for the Company and not one we had hoped to make. When the owners started eFusjon in 2008, we envisioned a unique and successful MLM business with healthy and unparalleled beverage products. The goal was to market these products through independent distributors via the MLM direct sales business model. Distributor performance, however, has been steadily declining for over a year now, and as a result, so has the Company’s revenues. The Company can no longer maintain a marketing model that is not generating the funds needed to grow a viable business. In short, the Company’s MLM business model is no longer a sustainable marketing strategy.
With a certain level of optimism, we also announce today our decision to explore other opportunities for the eFusjon product many of you have come to love. For some period of time, you may continue to enjoy eFusjon products through purchases (without compensation) on the eFusjon website www.efusjon.com.
Lastly, we extend a sincere and heartfelt thank you to all of you for your dedication to eFusjon over the years and for standing by our product and the Company during the height of our success as well as through more recent challenging times. We share your disappointment about the recent turn of events, but are cautiously optimistic about the future of eFusjon and eFusjon’s unparalleled, healthy beverages.
With gratitude,
The eFusjon Corporate Officers
Ouch. I like the part where they blame their going out of MLM business on “distributor performance.” They are ignoring the fact that they promised something (facebook app) that was going to change the game and never delivered. . .
I agree with Dave:
“The goal was to market these products through independent distributors via the MLM direct sales business model. Distributor performance, however, has been steadily declining for over a year now, and as a result, so has the Company’s revenues.” (what a joke)
Sure it is our role as distributors to build “our” businesses, however when a company acts like they have, well who would want to work with them.
They obviously can’t take any responsibility themselves.
I feel for all their reps and hope they find a place they can feel good about again like so many of us.
I am half-glad to hear they’re gone. There was so much hype around eFusjon it was almost sickening.
Though I feel sorry for all the distributors who spent their quality time building that business having it pulled out underneath them like that is always a horrible experience.
One I had to go through not too long ago. It can really hurt your pride and enthusiasm for the industry.
Though for all you guys reading this, this industry has much more positives then negatives, this is just one of the big negatives that can happen to you if you’re not careful.
To the top,
-Gregory
I agree Gregory that it is disheartening for the distributorsthat have spent time, money and energy on the business only to find out they don’t have it any more.
The industry can be a good thing and there are more positives than negatives, but you have to have the right mindset. Something like this can really derail your optimism and belief it can work for you.
However, I have to go back to the old saying, “If it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is.” When new distributors go for “hype” rather than results, or trying to make the fast dollar, it usually doesn’t work.
My only hope is that they can learn something from this experience, dust themselvesoff and try again. There are many people who try different companies until they find the right fit…maybe this is one of those cases where an even better opportunity lies ahead.
All the best,
Ivette
I agree, Greg. There is a lot of good in the industry. Unfortunately, most people don’t know how to evaluate a company before they get started. A lot of the companies don’t know how to evaluate themselves, either, for that matter.
The industry needs less hype and more genuine success because of great products and great systems.
Absolutely Dave.
I’ll have to blog about this haha, maybe I can help some people see the “light” : -)
I am a little sad to hear an mlm company go under, mostly for the distributors. And, in this case, ONLY for the distributors.
The whole company was poorly designed and ran. I did enjoy the drinks, which some amazing distributors handed me one day as I was walking around town.
Don’t let this ruin your look on the industry. It is the best formula for success. Period.
I wish the former eFusjoner’s the best, and I look forward to helping them in the future.
Oooh. Not good. Hence why it’s so important that your team are with YOU, not just the company.
I agree with Gregory though, there are still a lot more positives in this industry than negatives!
Wow, you see thats why it is so crucial to chose to invest in a company that is proven to have long term growth and sustainability.
TY, it is certain that there are thousands of people who are spending this Labor Day reflecting on the past and looking to the future with uncertainty. Dave made a very appropriate comment when he said, “Unfortunately, most people don’t know how to evaluate a company BEFORE they get started.” (Emphasis added) Perhaps even leaders don’t know exactly what to look for in an opportunity, before they take their teams into new ventures.
I hope you don’t mind me blowing your horn but the e-book you wrote with your partner, Bo Short, is a great place to start! I know it helped us make a sound and profitable decision. Perhaps it will help others now!

I have to agree , there’s so much more to a company than just a comp plan. Unfortunately, the majority of people who get into network marketing have very little experience in sizing up a company, its leadership and viability, and its compensation plan. From my experience, most of my successful network marketing friends have been around the MLM block a couple of times before they really got seasoned (me included). I’m sorry to hear about eFusjon… mostly I’m sorry for the distributors who invested all their time into energy into a dream that didn’t last.
Great Info Ty…
Shows The Nature of the industry and why individual skill set is more important than a mlm company

Hey Ty,
I was so damn surprised when I heard that Efusjon closed its doors because I knew a bunch of people that were in that company and they were extremely happy with how things were working out.
This is why branding yourself is SO important today in online marketing because if something like this was to happen and your MLM company closes it’s doors, then you can always take your team elsewhere because they know, like and trust you.
Great content bro!
See you at the top,
Michael Stead
I, for one, had forewarned people long before they closed their doors. First, they were new. 99% of ALL new MLM companies fail in their first 2-3 years. Second, they had a matrix pay plan! Historically, matrix pay plans have NEVER worked! (The lone exception: Melaleuca is the only company with a matrix pay plan that has had any signficant, long term success…just one company, out of thousands and thousands.) Anytime something has only worked once we call that a fluke! Nobody in their right mind knowing this fact would jump on any opportunity with a matrix pay plan, regardless of what new wrinkle or twist they incorporate into it. 4 or 5 changes in the pay plan within a year should have been a clue and wake up call! Third, they were late to the energy drink party and there were other, far superior products on the market, Verve from VEMMA being one of them. So, that’s 3 strikes, and as in baseball, 3 strikes and you’re out!
Unfortunately, most people have no historical knowledge of our industry and so they jump on “the latest, greatest, hottest new deal that’s going to be the next billion dollar giant,” not realizing that in doing so, especially one with a matrix pay plan, they’ve just virtually guaranteed their failure!
There is ignorance and stupidity. Ignorance is not knowing and doing something you shouldn’t have done. It can be corrected with knowledge and information. Stupidity is knowing better and going ahead and doing it anyway. Here’s a great example: right after many left Efusjon they went and jumped on another new deal with a matrix pay plan! Now that’s stupidity and they deserve to fail! (Evidently a lot of their distributors don’t even learn the hard way!)
