A district court judge has ordered Melaleuca’s former vice president of marketing to repay the company almost a quarter of a million dollars.
The court found Jeff Wasden guilty of breaching a non-compete contract when he left the company.
Melaleuca paid Wasden under the "separation agreement" because of that breach of contract. He now owes them more than $241,000.
"Wasden’s repeated disparagements of his former employer, knowingly made with the risk of losing over a $300,000 settlement, demonstrated incredible hubris at best, or extreme foolishness at worst," said District Judge Gregory Moeller. "Regardless, the court must conclude that this is an enforceable provision of the contract."
