I watched the majority of Barack Obama’s speech yesterday that launched his presidential campaign.
Impressive.
This will be an interesting election.
I don’t write much about politics on this site, but politics certainly affect the climate of small business in America and while I have never voted for a democratic presidential candidate, I think I will be following the Obama campaign closely.
Everyone seems to love this guy. WHY? Is it all fueled by the media? He has almost no record to speak of. It seems as if the American people are willing to elect someone president of the United States because he has a nice smile?
It takes more than charisma.
I am a volunteer for Congressman Ron Paul's campaign.

I'm not saying that I love the guy, I'm saying that I am impressed.
I can also say that I am very disappointed with the person that I voted for in the last 2 elections. Of course, that doesn't mean that I will be voting for a democrat in the next election.
I understand what you're saying. I'm impressed too with his rise to stardom.
Much like the Clintons, he's becoming more of an international celebrity than statesman.
Also – I agree, George "Budget Buster" Bush is a huge disappointment and embarrassment.
(I've never voted for him)
Here is a great link with the man that I'm supporting in '08

Glad to hear it, Matt! I, too, am swayed by the refreshing honesty of Ron Paul-Rep..
Barack – Dem. seems like he would do a great job as well – the only caveat, is that most candidates SOUND like they'd be great, until they take office.
As for voting Democrat – well, see where the current ReTHUGlicans have gotten us. But actually, the party almost doesn't matter anymore; just follow what you believe, and that doesn't always fall squarely as Dem or Rep.

democrat = psuedo-socialist = commie
Why do I say that – FREE ENTERPRISE
No one could ever convince me that the economic views of Democrats are more inline with capitalism, free enterprise, and small business than RePUBlicans.
Guess what? MLM is FREE ENTERPRISE!!
By the way I can't remember the company, but there's a company out there that has "Obama Bin Laden" shirts. Funny.
Remove the commie mumbo jumbo and I am pretty much with ya.
However we had several years of Republican White House, Senate and House and I'm not sure I can name any real change (for the better) that came out of it.
Honestly, I don't see myself voting for a democrat, but Obama makes things more interesting.
Democrats are always about socializing things. They cater to poor minorities. First they say "It's okay you're poor. It's not your fault. Here is some free help".
Don't get me wrong, some people need help. I would however venture to say that there are a lot of people abusing the system that don't.
Also, Democrats oppose every small/med business tax cut. Small/med business is the bread and butter of our economy. Go to any company that has a B2B sales force and if they have separate divisions you will find the small/med sales team to be the largest. They play upon the fears of the poor by saying that Republicans care more about business than the working man. "They are giving tax cuts to the rich." Nothing irritates a poor man worse than a rich one. Though they fail to realize that there is the same opportunity for them in this country if they wouls just stop whining and get ambitious.
Listen, it is just like sales. The closer you are to HOW the money is being made, the more you make. That's why salespeople get paid pretty well when they are good.
A salesperson is basically a business owner without the overhead…
Why would an hourly worker not make as much as a business owner? Because if you follow the logic above then the hourly worker is farther away from how the money is made. He contributes less to the economy because he doesn't create as much money nor does he spend as much into it. You WANT the people with money to spend more. More products get sold, other businesses make more money as a result of higher sales, their workers get paid more and/or more workers are needed then hired… as a result more money is put into the economy.
Democrats: when you raise taxes and create a dependence on government programs you hurt capitalism. Capitalism will not exist without an incentive for an individual to produce/work.
Why do I want to work if all my money goes to taxes when I can just sit on my a– and collect welfare?
A free economy is KEY to a free country. Money is power.
I won't speak for Buffet or Gates, but when Trump "started", him and his dad had 10 million to play with. It's not like he started from rags to riches. Outside of entertainment and sports, "rags to riches" is more difficult (not impossible) to achieve with a Democratic Party philosophy. This is because their views are farther away from pure capitalism than Republicans.
Gates product made him rich. It was one of those rare instances that the demand was so great that it was a factor that drowned out the influence of other factors.
I can't speak intellligently about Buffet because I know nothing about him.
Trump doesn't seem to act like a Democracker (my daughters word, not mine). = )
Imposter, the great majority of democrats haven't been "psuedo-socialist" for years. Current mainstream democrat thought is in my opinion remarkably close to the "compassionate capitalism" concept of Rich DeVos. Most of the great entrepreneurs of the last few decades have been publicly democrat, as well as the richest folk. Yahoo and google founders, Buffet, Gates, Trump – all democrat.
