I’ve seen some videos that are only 30 seconds that are pretty good. On the other hand some of the most compelling videos I’ve watch were 15 minutes long.
I think it comes down to what kind of leads do you want and how far along do you want them.
From my experience, people generally prefer shorter, punchier videos. The whole reason people prefer video to text is that they want to get to the point and are lazy! Having said that, if someone is after specific information, they will watch anything as long as the info they need is in there. I use shorter videos to lead people to what they need, then give them the opportunity.
I'm saying it all depends on the audience…If people are rocking up to your page looking for a quick way to get leads and prospects then they would probably be more inclined to want a 50-60 second video that is precise and to the point and then keep looking for more free info somewhere else. If you have an audience that understands the important of quality content and self development they will probably make the time to watch a 15, 20, 30 minute video if it means they are getting what they came looking for…Quality Content! I will quite happily sit through a 60 minute video if the Content is what I am look for and the presenter is on key with the way he/she is providing. http://richardkawanemarketingmastery.com
The person who says the most in the least time makes the most money. 5-6 minutes at the most for an intro. 10 minutes for a training video. Thank you is correct, short works.
I have seen videos and webinars where even after 20 minutes the crowd is still at 85%. If we follow 3 general rules we can keep people much longer than 3 mins and I believe we need to. Because If you are speaking to over 5 people.. (which I hope you would be) then you are speaking to differing personalities and so you need to cover many modalities to enable all types to learn.. Its the one who can relate with stories that will win NOT the one with the most fact in the shortest amount of time. In Fact.. no-one wants to hear boring business presentations.. no-one! It has to be fun and entertaining. It is all about content. I agree with Richard below. It is a fallacy and I believe a wrong conclusion has been made with the drop off graph… Just watch this guy David talk.. he talks for at least 30 mins to 1 hour on each video and currently he is one of the most successful marketers out there, Actually he is breaking the mold and breaking new ground.. many guru's are wondering what he is doing.. Take a look at his style… http://bit.ly/NPH01n

Short videos are better.
