In 2007 someone printed out and sent me a physical copy of Ann Sieg’s 7 Great Lies Of Network Marketing and her Renegade Network Marketer book. This is actually a great lesson in marketing because if someone I didn’t know had just sent me an eBook out of the blue, I probably would not have read it. But this person called me and said they would be sending me a copy and then sent the books to me “next day”.

There was an urgency to her process that made me pay attention. I don’t think I ever heard from this young lady again, but I went on to become one of the top (if not the top) affiliate for Ann’s program, which was probably pretty lucrative for the lady that sent me the books. Certainly worth the cost of printing and postage.

Shortly after, I noticed that I was getting a lot of traffic on my blog for Mike Dillard’s Magnetic Sponsoring, so I contacted Mike to sign up as an affiliate as well. I quickly became one of Magnetic Sponsoring’s top affiliates as well.

Success With A Self Liquidating Offer

It’s been a while, but I think I generated around 10,000 leads from Ann Sieg’s Renegade Network Marketer and another 6,000 from Mike Dillard’s Magnetic Sponsoring. Neither of those programs are around today in the same form although Magnetic Sponsoring has evolved into what is now called Attraction Marketing.

Ann Sieg’s Renegade Networker and Mike Dillard’s Magnetic Sponsoring are what we called funded proposals at the time, currently called a self liquidating offer.

Russell Brunson has built his Clickfunnels company (worth an estimated $360 million) using self liquidating offers like his Expert Secrets book that leads to a funnel where he makes an offer for Clickfunnels. The Expert Secrets book is sold at a discount price to help offset advertising and production costs but it is not meant as a profit center, but rather a lead source for Clickfunnels.

Resurrecting The Strategy

I tell you all of this for a couple of reasons:

  1. In one – ten month period I sponsored 207 people using the liquidating offer strategy.
  2. I am about to do it again with a new self liquidating offer.

Feeling a little nostalgic because I am really getting back to the roots of what works in Internet/Network Marketing.
