I was checking out the QBlog radio podcast and my name came up as they were discussing bloggers that write about Quixtar.
One of the anonymous blogger guys was questioning my motivation for writing this blog. Interesting enough, I started this blog at the suggestion of Eric J., aka QBlog back in 2003. The blog has undergone some changes and hiccups now and then but for the most part I have been pretty consistent with posting.
What has never changed is the idea behind this blog – to post my thoughts and opinions on Network Marketing. I spent 10 years in Amway/Quixtar, so when I write my thoughts and opinions about the industry, many of them will be about…dun-dun-dun….Quixtar!
Of course I have strong opinions about Quixtar. Am I supposed to not mention them because I am now involved with another company?
"MLMBlog, yer just bashing Quixtar"
I get this one a lot from pro-Quixtar people, but I think this is the first time I got it from an anti-Quixtar person, and my challenge will be the same. Point out one instance on this site where the information I have posted is incorrect. Just one.
And it's a great blog with lots of great content and you're one of the most consistent bloggers on the subject of Quixtar. However, two things to point out:
1. Drew is not anonymous, though Mr. X is for now (but not for long).
2. You did remove many Quixtar posts for a while. The balance of Quixtar to non-Quixtar related posts has overwhelmingly favored Quixtar posts lately. And while you were involved with Quixtar for quite some time, you've also been involved with many other things for the last 3-4 years at least. Nothing wrong with that in the least but I think most observers could at least see why some might question your motives.
3. Off topic but have you carefully read Google's terms of service regarding Google Ads? I believe (and I may be wrong) it's a violation to run Google Ads and Yahoo Ads on the same page. That's my understanding. I'd hate for Google to yank your ad privileges.
I meant three things 😀
I did reluctantly remove my Quixtar posts for a period of time and I view that as one of my hiccups.
As for others questioning my motives, everyone is entitled to their opinion…
I don't think I'll roll over, wet myself and stop talking about Quixtar because of one podcast. = )
I'm having a good time with my blog and hopefully I am causing a few people to think.
Thanks for the heads up on Google. After further review, you are right and I will be adjusting my ads accordingly.
Eric,
The way the posts are I think it should be changed to the MLMQuixtar.net blog.
Ty, Does EVERY post have to be about Quixtar? It's like an obsession…
I haven't seen a post about Oasis in months, just all about quixtar, quixtar, quixtar. What business are you in again?
Someone please pass the web mentor a tissue.
Thanks
Ah..very interesting conversations since last week. =)
Ty, I don't remember what post it was, but you mentioned that we might have a relationship here. You are very right. If I meet someone on the elevator and I say hi and exchange a few words, that's a relationship right? A very small one, but it is a relationship. If I see that person again in the elevator or anywhere else, it's easier to start another conversation. Which then, could be built into a friendship. However, it's not really like that on a blog. Can a relationship be formed? I don't doubt it. But my point was, it's not very effective. What type of relationship would you consider you have with Michael or some of the other pro-Quixtar ppl on here? Some of my friends are against what I do, but we're still friends, and there's a relationship.
So, what I was saying is how much of a relationship can you build in a NETWORK marketing company when a majority of the conversations are through blogs, conference calls, and web conferences? The only reason why I made an assumption on this is because I don't see how you can be out there "building relationships" if time is being spent here or at home with your family (which is not a bad thing). You can say how "old" the comp plan for Amway is, but as you said in another post, the comp plan isn't the only reason why a company would be successful. In fact, the largest reason why a company would be successful is their ability to create and maintain relationships with their organization.
I am not loyal to the books, tapes, and functions, I am loyal to my upline, because they have been there for me many times outside of my business. I have helped many of my friends who are not involved as well. Because of our relationship, they are loyal customers.
Read any book on time management and it'll state that anyone can see what's important to someone, by looking to see how much time they spend on something. So, you can say that b/c you spent so many years in Quixtar, is your reason for your blog to contain more information on that than anything. But it just leaves readers to ask "why"? You ask "how many Diamonds broke in December?" or in "2005" or compare to how many new Diamonds there are in Oasis. But my question is why? What does it do for you? So there's 3 new Diamonds in December and no Quixtar Diamonds. So what?! What about the last 4 months? It's a known fact that most Quixtar Diamonds begin their qualification in March so they can be qualified by the end of the fiscal year. You talk about how long it took some WWDB Emeralds to go Diamond. So what? I don't know if you know this, but there are Emeralds out there who CHOOSE to stay at Emerald. What's interesting is that there's Emeralds who have downline Diamonds. And you know what, they're probably not crying as to why they're not a Diamond yet. Mike Bundy is a perfect example who stayed at Emerald for over a decade and recently went Diamond (2002 I believe). You also are very intentful on finding how much a "kingpin" makes on tools at a certain level, but you know what, people don't go Emerald or Diamond because of their tool flow. They reach those levels because of guess what, PRODUCT VOLUME! If they fall back, it's because their product volume went down. Does it mean the business doesn't work? The answer is no.
In your post, Quixtar Diamonds vs. Oasis Diamonds, someone asked you about someone in your upline. You responded by saying it's not your business or hold anything against someone who did something long ago. But yet, it doesn't seem that Quixtar "kingpins" have that much leeway with you.
So, if you have people questioning your motives about as to why you blog so much about Quixtar, maybe blogging isn't as effective as you might want to believe. Warren Buffet purchased Pampered Chef. Does he have a blog? How many of your leadership have blogs? Ty, I'm not against you. Like I said, I do want you to succeed. You want someone to prove you wrong? My question is, why?
