I think the scary part of MLM’s is when there is no real product; it’s just all about the recruiting (like the friends of ours who did Quixtar, the internet version of Amway). Plus, with Aloette, you can still make manager without recruiting. Just do 20 shows and your commission goes from 25% to 30%. Something like 20 more and you go up another five percent.
What a nice book! I was in for 16 years and you can't get customers that will buy retail! That means when you a get a gruop that they can't get customers at retail either. You can only buy so much yourself! The 2 to 5 year plan is a joke because no one is doing it and if they do they have to work forever to maintain it! Since 1999 I never saw the fruit the old Amway Leaders promised. The old Amway Leaders just keep pushing the same old system on new people.
What 20/20 episode are you referring to?
I presume you mean Dateline NBC.
Ty, is this a respose to someone? If so, do you have that original email?
Except for the specific names, it sounds an awful lot like an automated response.
Whatever……..Quixtar/Amway whatever you want to call it, still has overpriced crap.
The motivational business is still a huge deception, which is part and parcel to Amway/Quixtar.
The whole thing blows goats.
Just so everyone knows, I am thinking about removing or editing the lengthy comment above.
It is obviously not a comment about this post, but rather a cut and paste from somewhere else.
However, if the comment sparks an open debate/dialogue, I am happy to leave it up.
What say you?
Why Not,
I think Quixtar is basically Amway. I also think that it is one of the worst Network Marketing opportunities on the planet.
Do you think I am misinformed?
Be warned. I write about Network Marketing on a daily basis and have looked at hundreds of companies.
So, please enlighten me.
Why Not,
I was very active in Amway/Quixtar for 5 years and semi active for another 5, in that time period, my best month was in the 4,000 PV range, running over $10,000 worth of product and tool volume through my group. The result? A loss on my schedule c tax return.
I have spoken with hundreds of current and former Quixtar IBO's and never once seen proof of a Platinum or below showing a profit on their tax return.
Quixtar has a 1959 compensation plan with products that are priced, in most cases, two times higher than they should be.
The training and tools business is not in place to help you turn a profit. It is in place to help the diamonds turn a profit.
Quixtar is without question, the most difficult network marketing company in the to build in the U.S. Show me a guy that can go Platinum in Quixtar and I'll show you a guy that could have gone Diamond in Oasis LifeSciences on the same or less effort and in half the time.
This is a response to a individual inquiring about Quixtar. As well as some of the misconceptions. We always encourage questions of any nature as a way to inform, educate, and encourage new IBOs.
Quixtar isn’t more or less Amway. In fact, you can’t even compare the two. They are two completely different methods of doing business. Comparatively we have access to their products. This is good news. These are the only products out there that are superior in quality and performance, and priced competitively. Furthermore we own the manufacturer of these products so we maximize the benefit of profits and savings because we have a better margin to work with.
The Quixtar Brass that you refer to in the 20/20 interview is no longer affiliated in our business. He is trying to promote his own new distribution business. I can’t say if there were integrity issues or what. I can’t tell you he is no longer involved. I can tell you this, it’s one thing to put a large business together and its another thing to keep it together. When you are dealing with a number of peoples lives you have to maintain a high level of integrity, moral and ethical standards. These must be consistent and predictable from the LEADERS in order to maintain unity and stability. When an organization has enough depth in structure it doesn’t matter what happens, nothing will stop the progression of the business. The media always exploits negativity. You would have a different 20/20 interview altogether if you had interviewed Rex, David , Jason, Shawn, Matt , or any number of IBOs who are building this business to make a difference in their lives and those around them for the better. Not someone who has failed in this business and then gives them a national interview on 20/20 why they failed and this business doesn’t work.
Lose money? How? That’s like someone getting on the Internet and saying I’m losing money shopping at Wal-Mart and I’m upset. Or someone else saying I went to college and can’t find a job. There fore put me on National TV to explain why college degrees don’t work. You will lose a lot of money going to them. The reason people get disgruntled about college is the false hopes they are given that with the degree they are guaranteed success and a nice income. Go to school, get a good education, and get a good job. False hopes. We won’t give false hopes in this business. We will tell you up front this business takes work. It doesn’t happen overnight and you will have to invest in you business. Remember this is a BUSINESS. There isn’t a business out there that you don’t have to invest in.
Be aware of the Business Support Materials Arbitration Agreement? If you read the agreement it clearly states the educational material is optional. You are not required to invest in any of it and no one can require you to. Furthermore this isn’t a huge investment. $7.50 plus tax and shipping = $8.40. If someone doesn’t use the material and doesn’t plan to sure we will buy it back and use it ourselves.
Alticore wasn’t formerly Amway. Amway still exists. Amway is in over 80 countries and territories. Quixtar’s business model is a model that is effectively being used in Canada and the United States for now. As for now, expansion into other countries will be through Amway. The reason for this is based on the international Internet trade regulations. Amway has already gone through all the red tape with distribution requirements with all the foreign countries government’s requirements. Quixtar’s business model is a model that is effectively being used in Canada and the United States. As time goes on, Quixtar and the Internet business model and method of direct fulfillment distribution will expand into other countries. Again as for now expansion into other countries will be through Amway. But what does this matter right now? It is an effective way of doing business in other countries. Foreign business is going to be a small percentage of your business in the beginning anyway. Your business has to expand beyond your own personal circle first. Alticore owns a number of corporations and businesses. Saying Alticore was formerly Amway is like saying the Orlando Magic was formerly Amway or Peter Island was formerly Amway or the Grand Plaza Hotel and Resort was formerly Amway. Sounds funny doesn’t it?
Statistics of low average IBO sales and high turnover? The good thing about this business is people are involved in it…the bad thing about this business is people are involved in it. People in some cases want something for nothing. This isn’t the way things work. It is important to set peoples expectations properly. I know this is a four-letter word but work is involved. If someone is given the false expectation that they can register an IBO and work their business one night per month and retire in 2 to 5 years is lying. Unfortunately this does go on. I can tell you this, WE DO NOT DO THIS! Low average sales? We are all creatures of habit. This business will not work if you don’t change your buying habits. That is worth repeating. This business will not work if you don’t change your buying habits. This business is driven by redirecting individuals overall monthly buying power. We teach people to focus on the repeat monthly consumables and staples that they buy, use up, and buy again. In order to be considered active in this business on an annual basis you could buy one tube of toothpaste and you are considered active. Let’s do the math. If one guy earns $1,000.00 per month and another guy didn’t take advantage of redirecting his buying power or wasn’t taught properly how to do this and earns $0.00 then the average drops to $500.00 per month. If one guy earns $1,000.00 and nine others did the same an in the first example and earn $0.00 then the average drops to $100.00 per month. Why do you think Matt and Shawn are investing time away from their families and taking money from their family budget to fly out there to help? Because one of the defining factors that will separate you from being the one who earns$1,000.00 per month and the nine others is whether or not you GET STARTED RIGHT. We don’t take this lightly. That is why they are flying out there. We want you to succeed. Our success depends on your success.
Profits are in the Quixtar Benefits. We will be glad to show you the profits, in fact there’s more than $93million available to IBOs at all achievement levels. This information is under Quixtar Business Incentives on the site. Why not sell the help information on the site? There is more to the learning and growing process than just getting information from a site. Association and one-on-one training are critical. Education is paramount. How that education is processed is the key. People spend $25,000 – $100,000 on college educations from books that they could get access to for less than $20 bucks for a library card using the local library. So why do people spend the money? Why do we pay professors? If they want us to have a degree and be educated so we can contribute to society to make it a better place then why don’t the professors just volunteer their time for free? Why? Because it doesn’t work that way. Knowledge is power. That power isn’t free. Neither is college. Society is messed up when we say it is ok and accepted to go $15 -$100grand in debt for a degree that doesn’t guarantee you anything other than a degree. Or that it is ok to spend $150.00 for a text book that we know costs less than $5.00 to duplicate in bulk. But we baulk at investing $7.50 for a CD that can offer us financial freedom in 2 to 5 years not a 30 to 40 year career and retirement on half our salary.
Tax advantages. If this business is treated as a hobby and never turns a profit the IRS will recognize it as a hobby and you won’t be entitled to the tax benefits. Keep in mind the same holds true for any business. If you started a restaurant but never opened the doors for business the IRS too will treat it as a hobby and you would lose your tax benefits. Also keep in mind about taxes and income…it’s not how much you make it is how much you keep. As an employee you get slaughtered by taxes. The government encourages business ownership and provides tax advantages with it as an incentive. If you or anyone else goes around telling individuals to open a private franchise with Quixtar and this is all you have to do, you don’t have to legitimately expand a business, and you can have tax advantages like any business for the rest of your life then you would be lying and giving them false hope. I know you weren’t taught this way because I know we don’t misinform people on this issue.
If people are so lazy why do they spend their money to renew? Are they just plain lazy? I don’t know. Some people renew out of habit thinking this year they are going to do something. Some people renew with no intentions of expanding; they just like to participate in the profits of their own buying. Some have opted for the automatic renewal and forget they keep renewing. We have people on our team that renew and never do a thing. Some are sporadic buyers others never buy a thing. If people aren’t using this business as a benefit and don’t intend to right now we always encourage them to get their money back. Are they just plain lazy? I doubt it. Maybe in some cases but overall they don’t have a support system or a support team in place to help them succeed or move on to the next level. You should become VERY confident about your support team. Some of them are flying out to help you.
Emeralds and Diamonds stress recruiting instead of retailing products? Quixtar pays for two things, volume and breaking Platinums. Products don’t move themselves people do. People are the raw material in this business. You will see as your business grows that you will reach a point that you can’t physically be everywhere all the time to teach and get the right thought process down into your new IBOs. The Britt System is in place for a reason. The Systems core values are based on sound principles of success. The system will help a new person get the same information you are along with the same thought process you are without getting the information or thought process watered down. You limit your ability to expand effectively in the short-term let alone long-term without a system. When you remove incentive you remove the will not only to succeed but also the will to help others do the same. Each of us…Matt, Shawn, and myself have learned a significant portion of our business knowledge from other Diamonds and Emeralds and so forth that have absolutely no invested interest in the success of our business. We have used this business knowledge to effectively expand our own businesses. I’m thankful for them and I appreciate their willingness to share that information and their experience and make it available not only to myself but our entire team. Should they get paid for this information and their experience? Without a doubt.
You know as well as I do Brian anything can be taken out of context and be used for a positive or negative impact. If you read the article Jay VanAndel was mentioning an incident with a shortsighted business owner that was trying to make a quick buck. Are there some people that gave Amway a bad name sure. Will the same happen with Quixtar, I’m sure. Study the facts. Be careful whom you listen to. Someone who means well but doesn’t have all the facts or someone from your family who is willing to travel to help you succeed. You can’t lose your shirt! If anyone is going to lose their shirt it is Matt and Shawn risking the investment in airline tickets to fly out to see you and to help you get your business started…not you. They aren’t charging you a dime. They want to help. Not to mention they know how big and powerful this opportunity is that we have our hands on. You have to consider whom you are going to listen to. Someone who read some information on the Internet from a source that wasn’t from the family or someone who is willing to travel across the country to help you grow. Matt and Shawn would be fools to consider traveling and spending time away from their families if this garbage on the Internet were true.
If you want to know the TRUTH, we can set down and explain it to you and show you how this business works. If you don’t want to know the TRUTH, then that is your decision.
What you have done with this email is what we encourage every new and veteran IBO to do, ask questions. If you have any questions get them out on the table. I normally wouldn’t take this time to compose a long email response when I could rap it up in a five minute phone call but Matt and Shawn sensed that someone tried to shake your tree and steal your dream and these guys wanted to go to guns and defend you properly. After reading this email your confidence will go up big time as well as your belief. I encourage you to spend as much time with Matt and Shawn as possible while they are out there. What have you got to lose? They will strengthen you. You will start to understand why they are investing their time and money to help. I look forward to meeting you in the future myself.
Ray,
I can say this without hesitation I have never purchased any product just for PV we have redirected our lifestyle inorder to do what the plan teaches. My wife and I each do 100pv through replacing 1 meal a day and taking double x, as you know it is that simple a choice yes but simple. I have heard of people buying their points and going into credit card debt this is unsound business practice.
Rocket,
This is not an aoutmated response this was a response to a prospect down in depth who had questions and these are the answers we provided.
Great discussion
Ty,
This sounds great, you are correct this is cut and paste from my files in which I have personally taken the time to come up with when being faced with questions from prospects new ibos' or misinformed individuals.
Thanks
Why Not
Ty,
I'm not sure why you think it is one of the worst Network Marketing opportunities on the planet. I can only speak on first hand expierence what this servicing agent Quixtar has done for me and others I know personally. Misinformed I am not in a position to say what information you have or have based you opinion on. It is possible you have a valid point from your expeirience. As far as enlighting you I have no intention of doing so. You have read my first post what are your thoughts aside from not thinking much of Quixtar.
I know nothing of Oasis, however showing a loss on schedule c for some could be seen as a tax incentive. Also, like you we are running 4000pv qualified 12 month eagles (BWW) receiving between $950.00 and $1435.00 per month. As you know you must reach the plat level to see the system money. As far as the 1959 compensation plan the pv/bv as changed and the 2-5 year income has as well. Products for my team in the rural communities are a shock for someone however for those in the metro ares of Il see a better price.
Geez Ty, you ought to send a bill to the IBOAI for the ad. The graduates at Quixtar U are a wordy bunch.
So we go from

You must get a lot of that, Especially when your stories change so quickly!
Prices in Amway/Quixtar suck. They are not competitive. The tools money is where these people make their money. All that suff in profiles? Tool money.
You can't control the prices. Amway does. How does that make you independant?
Good Morning Dave,
Thank you I appreciate the compliment.
I recently joined a mlm company that just launched in the U.S. It started in 2003 in Mexico and since then has launched in Spain and the Phillipines. I have had success with the product and so have the people I have shared it with. I am hoping to gain information on how to grow this business and I am happy to share more about this company with you.
