I love the last two weeks of December for a couple of reasons.
First, I have always had amazing results in my business in December…I think mostly because everyone else is taking time off and thinking that it isn’t a great time to build.
Second, this is the time of year that I really focus on my skills. I read more books, buy and absorb lots of training products and I tend to write more emails and blog posts.
I’m pretty sure that part of me is thinking about the goals that I want to accomplish in 2012 and I know that if I want to get better and accomplish more, I need to become more (why the focus on personal development).
My focus on personal development can be traced back to the time I spent in Amway (or World Wide Group) back in the day. I didn’t make money in Amway but I did come away with some skills.
I know that I am preaching to the choir here but there are a lot of people in this world that spend a lot of time complaining about their circumstances but rarely devote any time or energy to making themselves a better person and creating more value in the world as a human.
Skills can make you rich, my friends.
What if you spent the next six months developing a skill?
Let’s assume the skill is in demand and you are able to train others, create a product or sell something online related to the skill. If you sold $50 a day worth of training or consulting or whatever, you just created a business that does over $18,000 a year.
Want to earn six-figures online?
Create enough value in the marketplace to sell $300 a day.
(This is totally connected to what I do with my Network Marketing business by the way.)
Once you create something that is in-demand, the selling part is very easy.
For example, I created MLM Blog Secrets and MLM Blog Code because I knew that people wanted to learn how to attract business by blogging.
Now, whenever I am on Facebook, I almost always have someone send me a link to their blog, asking me what I think about it. Typically I can offer a couple of suggestions and send them on their way, but a couple of weeks ago, I launched another product called MLM Blog Theme that (as far as I know) is the only WordPress theme specifically designed with Network Marketers in mind.
MLM Blog Theme includes an easy way to get connected with social media, a pop-up widget, a sidebar opt-in widget…basically all of the bells and whistles you need to create a blog built for marketing your business.
Today, someone sent me their blog and I took one look at it and realized that MLM Blog Theme would be be a huge help. So I told the other person about it. (Yes an incredibly complex selling technique.)
Right now, I am working on my skills in writing. What are you working on?

Good info Ty on skills that make people rich!
THANK YOU for creating the MLM Blog Theme. I can't tell you how many wasted hours I've spent over the past 2 years trying to tweak a Blog Theme to look good yet simple. It never looked "right". Now with the MLM Blog Theme I'm re-inspired to continue with my blogging journey. Your theme took so much headache out of the way! And I too get inspired in December to get a jump start on my January goals! Network Marketing has taken me down a journey to developing better Character in myself – and I'm not sure I would have taken the journey without that little NM nudge! Thanks for all your valuable help Thank you.
Hi Ty: Can you create pages in spanish on MLM Blog theme???
I spent lot of ours trying to figure out Word Press and after several months I still don't have it up and running.
BTW: Great article….I am also working on my writting skills…Happy New Year
Carlos, MLM Blog Theme runs on the WordPress platform, so the editor that creates the pages and posts is the same. Should be good to go.
Funny, December was one of my best months, created an additional $23,000 in income by just asserting myself and being open to new production, rock on Ty, always get value out of your stuff
Go Ray!!
Thanks for the great info. developing skills each day is key to getting better. I am working on mine. Have an awesome 2012.
That's awesome, Ray. Keep up the good work. I'll catch up with you 🙂
Hi Ty, I focused last month on becoming more crystal clear in my primary opportunity. I released on a few other ventures and focused on 1. The power of clarity helped me prosper quickly. I was diluting my message before. Lesson learned. As for skills I work on personal development every hour I am working. I drop everything at the 40 minute mark and visualize, or meditate or affirm. Supercharged my results, since starting AND sticking to this practice. Successes do not live life according to a calendar. Every moment is the best time to improve our life, whether it's Christmas Day, New Years, whenever. I pull back and relax but I always keep my goals in mind, and this strategy hasn't hurt me yet 😉 Thanks for sharing your insight Thank you. To your continued success. RB
Thanks Ty, what great strategies to develop skills and improve as business is slowing down for the holidays. Learning new skills seems to be be ongoing process. Is it too late for someone in their fifties to master the skills required to be a successful blogger and internet marketer?
