I did an interview a couple of weeks ago for an upcoming book called Attraction Marketing and Networking Professionals. You can check it out here:
Ty Tribble Interview
Here’s a short snip:
I think attractive networkers provide people with great value whether or not they choose to be in business with them or not. They are looked upon as a resource. It’s interesting to me: I’ve got an annoying networker that just drives me batty. He absolutely provides no value to anyone. Every single pitch he makes is, “Get in now, retire, sign up today. Get rich.” And I am like, “Really? Do people really fall for that? This is your whole, entire pitch?” And I get an email, almost once a week, pitching his deal. He provides no value whatsoever to people who don’t decide to get into his deal, and then who knows what he is providing in terms of value to people who are already in his deal. His whole attitude – “Get in and retire” – I mean… it’s just annoying as hell.
Hey Ty,
You are absolutely right. A long time ago, I would sign up under someone who was boring and didn’t really know much about network marketing or the products. They just simply got in because of the opportunity. It took me a while to figure out that this person is not going to really help me. His only help to me was to go out and find people to sponsor. This incredibly made me angry. No wonder why I failed so many times. Now I am much smarter shopper. Just like shopping for products, you need to learn how to be smart shopper especially when it comes to picking a good network marketer who can coach you. Coaching is important.
Great post, You really hit my hot button.
Excellent points Ty, I have had a few calls since becoming active and actually got the “you need to make a decision on this while I am on the phone with you.” Of course my resounding answer was “what are you trying to hide from me?”
I think there is a time for a hard sell on a product or service but that is not on the first call, and most definitely not before trust is built between you and your potential prospect.
I absolutely agree with you on this Ty, and ‘Straight Line Downline’ you made a very valid point on finding the right coach when it comes to joining under a sponsor.
A lot of the time, well pretty much most of the time Network Marketers just focus far too much on getting the numbers in there team, and no where near enough on actually coaching their downline properly – especially the newbies who join up in this industry.
It’s people like like this that cause MLM to have a bad name, because they don’t help to prevent the high attrition rate.
Right on, Ty! Makes you want to write back and say: “I’m just NOT that into your business opportunity!” :). The more you talk the less interested I am.

Great reminder to continually add value to life and the Internet. Real Network Marketing leaders get followers almost as a by product of there great energy and vigor.
Good points about providing value whether people join your or not. My USP is simply to be the NO B.S. network marketer and share what I learn with everyone else online. No pitching. No hard sell. Just provide value and attract the right people into my world. That’s all I do and it has worked for me for many years.
