Warning: (It’s 10:54am Pacific Time) and I am typing this before I have had the pleasure of polishing off my Starbucks Coffee…
…so I’m not completely sure what is gonna happen, but here goes.
I am so sick and tired of seeing today’s MLMbloggers writing the same “
“We”, meaning our industry (collectively) are so much better than that trash.
I’m having a hard time finding real blogs on the subject of Network Marketing that are worth reading and I know for a fact, that you have a story to tell.
You have a tip to share…or a struggle that others might empathize with.
Here’s what the ding-dong blogger brigade doesn’t get:
People in your niche are craving a real person to connect with, not some faux “brand me” leader who is trying to impress everyone with his knowledge even though he has never sponsored anyone or generated a single lead online.
Yes, it’s about branding you, but not a phony, fake, non-authentic version of you.
How about we start sharing real stuff like, “Here’s what I learned today from my coach/mentor today and here’s what I’m doing to implement it”.
Or take a cell-phone video of you making your favorite shake recipe.
Or interview someone in your upline.
Or test out a Facebook Ad and tell people exactly how it went.
No one, outside of my coaching students = ) is blogging like this. (OK there are a couple of leaders doing it, but not more than a handful).
The Big Problem: I know there is a disconnect between having neat ideas to blog about, writing and the dreaded technical side of launching a WordPress Blog. Some of you really want to start blogging, but you are scared of the technical stuff.
And that’s why I co-developed MLMBlog Theme.
It’s click by click simple, complete with 10 tutorial videos and unlimited email support. (no excuses not to get it set up and running)
To make it even easier on you, for those who purchase MLMBlogTheme in the next couple of days, I am going to include:
- Free Blog Installation
- Free Custom Branded Blog Header
The free bonuses are available for a limited time so don’t dilly-dally:

Ty Tribble
Me and my boy, Mark Hoverson (he is authentic).
Ty – in your opinion, what is the difference between direct sellers and MLM? I use the term interchangeably but I have been told that’s not correct. Great article and very useful suggestions for bloggers!
Network Marketing (MLM) is a sub-category of Direct Selling. Direct Selling can also refer to single level companies where you get paid only on your personal sales and typically on your front line.
Thanks Ty. So an MLM organization typically pays down many levels and direct sales only one? Are there any other distinctions you or others can think of?
MLM can be categorized as direct sales but direct sales is not always MLM. Most experts would use the compensation model as the distinguishing factor.
Thanks – that helps to clarify!
Thank you for reminding me why I started blogging in the first place.
It’s given me some ideas for blog posts this week.
I hear you. It’s such a waste of time for both the reader and I would argue the blogger as well. Newbies will get sucked in the first few times, but after that I think most of us learn to avoid these posts.
Ty, great post!! I agree! There is SO MUCH of that going on. I’ve also noticed most people are focused on affiliate marketing and all of their posts tell you about is how this affiliate program changed their life and how you need to use it. All of the blogs look the same because they are generated by the same few affiliate companies and all of the content is the same. The people who will really succeed (and who already have) are the people who offer something different from everyone else who sounds identical.
Hi Ty, I actually lived in Olympia Washington about 2 months ago.
I see a lot of leaders talk about how they failed miserably in MLM and then achieved sucess, and they’ll have this somewhere on their blog to share their story.
What do you say in your about me when the money hasn’t come yet? Ex. “I failed in 6 mlm’s but I found online marketing and thats all gonna change in the next couple months, but right now I’m still broke.” ???? (thats not me, just an example)
Hi Ty – I have bookmarked this blog post and am going to try to make a conscious effort to come back to it every time I’m unsure on what to write about.
Since reading this post I’ve written two posts about what’s really going on with my newly formed MLM business venture. From what it feels like to make the first cold calls to my personal hang ups of getting involved in the MLM industry were my first posts. Later, I plan to document some of my Facebook ad tests like recommend. I’m glad I found your blog.
I had the same idea. In fact, if you believe in competition (I don't really) then you might have the idea (if you hold yourself with higher standards) that it would be fairly easy to compete in this industry considering all of this.
Yes as a newbie it sucks sometimes but reading articles makes me aware of what is lacking, what should I do and how should I do it. Looking forward for another post.
Ty, thank you, you’ve just put my mind at rest – I just started my blog about online network marketing (as opposed to offline) and am taking a “let’s do this together” approach – this is what I’m learning, any tips gratefully received… but have been holding back at the same time thinking that everyone tells you, you should place yourself as an expert in your field to attract people. I don’t feel that I am an expert in anything (yet!) but would like to be one and want to share my journey. If you, the king of all bloggers say this is OK, then I feel that I am on the right track after all and now perhaps I can get rid of my “blogger’s block”! There is so much to write about I don’t know where to start but I have a sneaky suspicion that a peruse of your blog will give me some good tips! Thanks again, I feel much relieved!
So glad I found your blog finally someone making sense and saying things the way they are – so many fonys out there…. and now we live in the time of empower network where people are thoght not to call anyone and just sell their stuff …I see leaders promoting that system ( im not saying it’s a bad system ok) and showing off how much they make in a week showing off they are the number 1 in the last 7 days in empower network and i just wonder how many people they signed up in the mlm they work in …..distracting his own distributors from building aserious business with something i think will be a short term thing ( empower network) that is …or maybe not …
Ty another great post … The industry has had man black eyes in the past and we on need any more. Lets raise the bar!
Thanks for your blog, Ty. You are everywhere. No wonder that you are in the top 100 business bloggers.
As a newbie to this blogging business, I shall study your methods closely.
Cisco, I looked at EN (who hasn’t been aware of this?), and could see no value whatsoever in the program. The question I had, which others have also asked is, who are the customers, or is this just a money-shuffle “scheme”
So true! Lots of insecure networkers that couldn't create a downline.
