It will be interesting to watch how fast other companies are able to move into China after Avon. I heard a statistic the other day (although I have not confimed it) that there are more people in making over $70,000 a year in China than there are making $70,000 in the U.S.
Avon Products Inc., the world’s largest door-to-door cosmetics distributor, was awarded China’s first licence for direct selling after the government lifted a seven-year ban on the practice.
The New York-based company’s permit was issued on Feb. 22 and seven of Avon’s employees were granted licenses to train sales people in direct selling, the Ministry of Commerce said in a statement on its Web site today.

China is not really allowing MLM marketing to the extent that one cannot hire people to sell under them. Also, China's middle class is growing fast, but I do not think your $70,000 a year statistic is close to being accurate.
