Liberty League International, one of the world’s leading personal development companies continues to take legal action against people who are using illegal tactics on the web. The enforcement campaign has revealed a number of cybersquatters and trademark infringers.
Liberty League International, LLC, a global leader in personal development and income growth opportunities, today announced three new legal actions against cybersquatters in the United States. These legal actions, part of an ongoing intellectual property enforcement campaign, include a federal lawsuit against Tina Fields for cybersquatting and trademark infringement, a federal lawsuit against Jennifer Lawlor for cybersquatting and trademark infringement, and a domain dispute action against the registrant of the domain www.libertyleague.us. In addition to these new actions, Liberty League International revealed that it is taking a firm stance on any transgressions from settlement agreements made between cybersquatters and trademark infringers.
Cybersquatters register Internet domain names (such as www.libertyleague.us and www.theleaguereview.com) containing not only widely recognized trademarked names and brands but also confusing variations of them. This unlawful practice often results in misleading unsuspecting customers, the infringer illegally profiting from them either through online ad networks or through sales of competing services. In some cases, once the potential customer has been misdirected to the infringing website, screens filled with pay-per-click advertisements greet visitors to these Web sites, which can generate revenue for the registered domain owner and the online ad network. In other cases, the infringing website portrays itself as an unbiased comparative website, but then promotes a competing product, oftentimes by presenting false and/or misleading information about Liberty League International.
"These sites confuse visitors who are trying to engage with or learn about our company. This can negatively affect our corporate brand and reputation, impair the end-users’ experience, and steal our legitimate business" said Shane Krider, co-founder of Liberty League. "With every illegitimate ad hyperlink clicked, a registrant or ad network harvests cash at the trademark owner’s expense, while derailing legitimate efforts by customers who wish to better their lives"
