In a very interesting move, the Orlando Magic and the City of Orlando have signed an agreement to rename the Arena in Orlando, Amway Arena.

I say this is interesting because Amway (technically) no longer exists in the United States. The process to phase out Amway began in 1999 with the launch of Quixtar.

Sources say that the launch of Quixtar was not only an effort to re-brand the Amway name to get rid of some of the stigma, but to also reign in some of the Amway distributor big-wigs who’s bad behavior had long been looked upon as the cause of Amway’s poor reputation.

The online launch proved ineffective at reigning in the poor behavior because the distributor bigwigs hyped many disributors into thinking that "the system", (a seperate revenue stream of books, tapes and conventions), was even more important with the Quixtar launch.

Amway Re-Launched in the U.S.

All of this and a few other clues lead me to believe that some form of Amway will eventually be relaunched in the United States.

I really can’t think of another reason why the arena would be named Amway Arena instead of Quixtar Arena. Amway products are not even available in the United States.
